Celebrations for China's 60th anniversary, since Mao Zedong proclaimed the foundation of the People's Republic of China. People watched a major National Day fireworks display at Bai'etan section of the Pearl River, Shamian Island. It was the year's display the most elaborate and expensive one in recent years, costing 3.3 million Yuan. (October, 1st, 2009)
